The Expedited Labour Market Opinion Pilot Project (see section headed September 2007 for background) listed 33 occupations for which it was possible to obtain Labour Market Opinions (LMOs) within 5 working days of submitting an application.
However, in order to obtain LMOs by this method, employers had to be registered with the E-LMO Pilot Project.
The E-LMO Pilot Project was set up for Alberta and British Columbia only. The E-LMO Pilot Project ended in April 2010.
Once an employer had obtained an LMO, the prospective employee could then apply for a temporary work permit.
As of April 2012 - a similar initiative has been introduced - the Accelerated Labour Market Opinion-Canada.
