The eurozone, officially the euro area, is an economic and monetary union (EMU) of 17 European Union (EU) member states that have adopted the euro (€) as their common currency and sole legal tender

There are 17 member states in the eurozone. These are:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Cyprus
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Netherlands
  • Portugal
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain


The blow couries are not members of the eurozone but have official agreements to use the euro:

  • Monaco
  • San Marino
  • Vatican City


The below countries are member states of the above but are not in the eurozone and do not use the euro:

  • Northern Cyprus
  • New Caledonia
  • French Polynesia
  • Wallis and Futuna
  • Campione d'Italia
  • Aruba
  • Curaçao
  • Sint Maarten
  • Caribbean Netherlands
