Dayton, OH. The birthplace of flight, Wilbur and Orville Wright built and tested the famous "Wright Flyer" here (the actual first flight was in Kitty Hawk, NC), and there are many locations bearing their name (inlcuding a state univerasity, Wright State).

Also well known for the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, one the biggest Air Force research facilities in the country (home to Air Force Materiel Command and the Air Force Research Labs). There is an operational reserve unit flying C-5s here now, and you will see other military aircraft flying around, especially in August when the Dayton Air Show is in full swing.

Home of National Cash Register (NCR), provider of a huge number of cash registers and point of sale technologies all over the world.

Home to Lexus Nexus a massive electronic databasing capability, specializing in legal (Lexus) and news (Nexus) sources, and more recently scientific publications (partnered with Reed Elsevier).

The crossroads of the US, where I-70 (East-Westbound) and I-75 (North-Southbound meet... I-70 takes you from Philidelphia, PA to Utah; I-75 takes you from the Canadian border in northern Michingan all the way to Miami, FL. The meeting point of five rivers that eventually feed into the Ohio River. The city itself sits on the rivers and has some good views across the impressive Dayton Art Institute (art museum) and the Greek Orthodox church.

Dayton city center is growing and getting cleaner but is still not really the "center" of activities. Dayton has a lot of suburbs that are much busier (suburbs include: Fairborn, Beavercreek, Centerville, Bellbrook, Kettering, Belmont, Oakwood, West Carrolton, Huber Heights, Vandalia). Daytonians usually relate more to their local suburb community. The greater Dayton area has a population of about 1 million. It is 60 miles North of Cincinnati (an hour), and 60 miles West of Columbus (the state capital). Has three universities: University of Dayton is a catholic/jesuit school; Wright State University (state university) and Sinclair Community College.
