Barrie is a city located in Simcoe County on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay (Lake Simcoe). It has a population of 128,500 and is growing rapidly. This is in part due to the fact that Barrie is 100 km north of Toronto and increasingly considered to be within commuting distance. It is also due to the lower cost of living, safe communities and wonderful access to outdoor living.

Barrie does have an efficient bus system. Barrie Transit There are also plans to re-open the GO train connection between Barrie and Bradford at the end of 2007.
