[edit] How to get thereEasiest way is by car along I-95 A regular bus service also gets you to Waterville and Portland The Bangor airport is quite a good local airport with a couple of international flights but those tend to be very expensive and it can be cheaper to fly into The Portland Jet Port and drive the 1.5 hours to Bangor. [edit] Places to EatPat's Pizza This is 5 mins away in Orono and for anyone going to the University of Maine, Orono, this is an institution. They have a handful of restaurants in the state and have no relation to the big chain in the country, and this particular place won't be beaten. Awesome and cheap food, especially the pizza's and the bar is pretty good too, with the added bonus that it is down town and they have their own parking. [edit] Places to SeeThe Folk Fest This is a free event that happens on the water front every year, though donations do help fund the event. They have a great range of music and have had Ballroom Dance, Jazz, Blues all the way out to folk music from Russia and China. Plenty of dance shows and demonstration events happen through out the weekend and plenty of craft stands to buy and sell goods, a great place to get presents. As for food, there are plenty of various things from Alligator, to Indian including everything in between, but the clam chowder on a cold day hits the spot. Definitely will want to bring your own folding chairs and a hat, as a lot of the stages aren't in the shade while a few of the main stages are covered. [edit] Places to Shop[edit] Accommodation |
