The St. Andrew's Society of The Netherlands was formed in 1985 as a means whereby Scots, and others with an interest in Scotland, could get together from time to time and celebrate the well-known Scottish anniversaries. The two principal occasions, St. Andrew's Day on 30th November and the birthday of Robert Bums on 25th January are celebrated in traditional formal style with a St. Andrew's Ball and a Burns' Supper. Other more informal events, such as Ceilidhs, are also held from time to time. In addition, the Society runs a Reel Club which meets every Friday from September to June where members and friends can learn or simply enjoy some Scottish Country dancing.
