For more than 20 years, Louise lived and worked in London. In 2002, she and her now-husband bought a pile of granite in the tiny medieval village of Carmine Superiore, and set about turning it into a home. Five years, two trilingual children, three cats, 24 chickens and a flightless seagull later, and it's nearly finished. The complication? The village is half way up a mountain with no vehicle access!
