The Hon Kevin Andrews MP, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, and
the Hon, Joe Hockey MP, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations
have today announced changes to the Migration Occupations in Demand
List.
'The Migration Occupations in Demand List includes 38 managerial and
professional occupations, one associate professional occupation, 10
computing specialisations and 46 trade occupations', Minister Andrews
said.
Minister Hockey noted 'the inclusion of architect and quantity surveyor
on the Migration Occupations in Demand List will be welcomed by
employers, particularly those in the resources and construction
industries. Changes to the Migration Occupations in Demand List will
also benefit Australia's international competitiveness as a provider of
high quality aircraft maintenance and servicing'.
'Occupations and specialisations identified on the Migration
Occupations in Demand List gain extra points for people applying for a
points-tested General Skilled Migration visa, making it easier for them
to come to Australia as skilled migrants', Minister Andrews said.
The Migration Occupations in Demand List helps to address the labour
needs of Australian industry by selecting General Skilled Migration
migrants with specialist skills and experience.
