Immigration visits to Gladstone and Rockhampton
Immigration outreach officers will visit Gladstone and Rockhampton from May 1-3 to stage information seminars on skilled migration.
They will provide information about employer-sponsored skilled migration options, including the regional sponsored migration scheme (RSMS), employer and employee rights and obligations under the skilled migration programmes and updates on the 457 temporary work visa.
A spokesman from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) said significant changes to the employer-sponsored skilled visa programme have occurred throughout 2012-13.
“These seminars will provide an overview of these changes, including information about SkillSelect,” the spokesman said.
“SkillSelect is an online service that connects Australian employers with potential skilled migrants and streamlines the pathway to permanent residence for people already working in Australia on temporary skilled 457 visas.
“Our officers provide a range of information about temporary or permanent employer-sponsored visa options and the concessions available for regional applicants.”
The seminars will also educate businesses about their responsibility for checking to ensure that the workers they use are allowed to work in Australia.
This will include information about civil penalties and infringement notices for employers or labour suppliers of illegal workers.
The information seminars will take place at the following times:
|Gladstone||May 1||5.30-7pm||Gladstone Community Advisory Service, 142 Goondoon Street, Gladstone|
|Rockhampton||May 3||1-2.30pm||MECOBE Centre, corner of William and Bolsover Streets, Rockhampton|
Bookings for the seminars are essential.
