Default Gorgon project

Does anyone know of any welders starting on this job? Are they struggling to get guys? Do you need PR or are they taking 457? I've heard some rumours of guys coming from UK on some sort of leave cycle, but I think thats all they are , rumours. I heard they werent looking to start welders etc until the start of the year. If there is anyone on here that can shed some light on this or has any info about who the companies are that will be employing welders, what the rates are, that would be appreciated.

I've been on BE for years and never realised there was a weldind page.

For those interested in Gorgon there won't be much site welding till the back end of 2011. They've only just finished the accomadation camp for the lads to live who will be building the main camp.

It's going to be a huge job bug most of the cab work will done in asia. I hav'nt heard of any sponsorship for this job but things might change later.

There's not many welders idle over here but most are working fly in/out 4 weeks on 1 off. The monies pretty good but it's not a good thing for family life. All the workshops in Perth are empty.
