Default Where to start? How to start?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 25 year old Oil & Gas professional from Scotland. I am eager to develop my career through working abroad. How do I actually go about this? Are there recruitment agencies who specialise in doing this? I am pretty open minded where to start off but just finding it difficult to gain that start.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Shlou

Hello and welcome to the forum

I guess that your best bet is to,look in the Jobs section of the, forum. That's probably the first port of call.

Malaysia, where I live, has a big oil industry but I wouldn't have a clue how you find work for that I'm afraid.

Take a look around the forum and see what you find

Hello and a big welcome to BE.

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.

Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Hi there,

Thanks for all the information. I feel I'm at a good time of my career to go with 8 years experience and in a senior role within my company.
I will have a look about and make myself at home

Cheers,
Shlou.

If Canada interests you, then look into the IEC program, and do some research on the oil industry in Canada, which is predominantly based in Alberta. An IEC visa would get you 12 months of living and working in Canada, and it can be extended for an additional 12 months. The program will be re-opening later this year. Spots go extremely quickly (last year it was 7 minutes), so you need to have your ducks in a row, but it's by far the easiest way to get a work visa for Canada, and the oil industry here is pretty good so sounds like it might be up your alley!

Rosemary has already pointed out the Wiki, there's an article in there on the IEC program - International Experience Canada. Have a good read of that.

Good luck!
