I have known a number of peopl who have gone of to the Far East to teach English, and every single on of them has absolutely loved it.
I woudl definitely recommend you get chatting to expats on the Far East forum as they will be able to advise on the best places etc etc, and they seem like fun. Baked bean is the concierge and will look after you on there.
Apart from that, good luck with the fundraising and the plans

And I've also met a few who hated it, earning hardly subsistence wages, barely more than locals. You really have to do your homework, and don't accept a job just because it is the only one you can find, or the first one you are offered. You can survive on 500 baht a day in Bangkok, but you really wouldn't want to!

Sounds good...maybe something for the future as we plan (when our boys leave home etc) to travel overseas for a few years....
