Tentative greeting from someone making the virtual leap
I feel a bit of a fraud as I have actually been persuing these boards for agest. Thought it was time for me to come clean and actually introduce myself and say hello.
Hello
The reason I am being somewhat tentative is, after watching the boards, I know there are people out there who are pretty ruthless at times. Please be gentle with me
My partner, myself (both 40 and hoping it's the new 30) and our 4 year old son are quite far down the immigration process. We are going through the PNP route to Hants County, Nova Scotia. We have been nominated and Sydney received our paperwork in January.
A bit of background. I am a secondary school teacher, who is hoping not to have to teach in Canada (I know they aren't in demand. Phew!) My partner works for the police and we are both somewhat unhappy in our careers. We are hoping to begin a business of our own, or see what is out there when we move. We understand the need to take the capital in case it all goes belly up.
Hope that's enough to melt the ice a little and allow me take part in the witty banter that I have been viewing for so long.:

Hi Maplease
Welcome to BE - glad you have braved it and come in from the cold.
Don't worry, there are only a small few on the forums who tend to be a bit direct - ignore them if you like - as the rest of the folks are generally lovely.
I recommend you check out our Canada forum, where you can chat with expats who have already made the move so can help you with lots if useful tips and advice - and making new friends is a bonus.
You can find this forum by clicking the 'forum index' tab on the top left of this page, scroll down the countries and double click on Canada and you're in.
There are plenty of folks posting on there who live and work in Nova Scotia so you'll be in good company.
That just leaves me to wish you all the very best with your plans

Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.
Rosemary
