Seeking as much as possible information for nursing in Australia
Hello everyone.
I'm new here. My name is Sher and I live in Nottingham, UK. I am married, have 3 children (19 yr old son, 15 yr old daughter and 21 month old daughter). I qualified as a RN, DipHE Adult Branch in 2003 and got my BSc in OH Nursing (Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - Occupational Health) in 2008; both qualifications in UK Universities. I am currently working as an OH Advisor in Local Gov and Private Industry; l'm also doing bedside nursing in the NHS via Agencies.
We are hoping to immigrate to Queensland (looked at Sunshine Coast, Rokhampton, Yeppoon and Mackay). My husband is a Teacher so we have to consider areas where he is likely to get work too.
I sent my application off to AHPRA over a week ago and it has not yet been delivered. I rang NMC to find out if they have sent verification and they told me that it they will send it next week.
I'm not sure if l have done things correctly so far and not even sure if my qualifications are recognised by the Australian Board? Is anyone here able to give me further info on whether my qualifications will get me anywhere in this process?

Hi and Welcome to BE.
best place to ask these questions would be in the Australian forum
Immigration, Visas & Citizenship (Australia) - British Expats

Hello there - just to add to Mrs Fychan's post, we also have a specific nursing (and other health profs but is mostly nursing posts) forum and there has been a lot of discussion about APHRA and the recent changes in there, which might be of use to you. I suggest starting a thread in there too if you don't get enough info in the Oz visa forum
