Newbie from Australia
Hi all I am new to this forum ,am not actually British but it's generation Australian of Scottish and English parentage! I live in a small seaside town ,Nelson Bay with my husband and youngest daughter (17yo). My eldest son lives and works in Shanghai ( 7 years now) married to local girl. My second eldest daughter lives nearby married to a London lad she met in her travels and work in UK over the last 10 years. We are researching the feasibility of moving to Malaysia to eventually retire utilising MM2H. I have lived in Penang in the past as a teenager when my Dad was stationed there in the military(early70's) and visited again in the 90's.I have continuing friendships with Malaysian friends and their families in Australia.
I have been a registered nurse( past life spanning 30 years including 5 years in the airforce) , a literacy teaching assistant for 9 years and taught arts and crafts in between.
I have travelled to Japan and several times to China over the last 3 years.
And I think I have waffled on long enough...

Not sure if you've found our Malaysian section - http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=148 but that would be the best place to find out about the MM2H - as well as lots of other useful info.
Shout if you get lost or need a hand - nearly always someone around to help out

Re: Newbie from Australia
Hi besage and welcome to the forum
We have a very looooong thread about the MM2H visa on the Malaysia forum. Please follow the link below, if you wish to read:
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=757238
and, as old.sparkles has mentioned, do come over to the Malaysia section and join in with some of the existing threads. Maybe ask some questions of your own too. I have the MM2H visa and have been living in Penang for 3+ years now, and happy with that. Penang is forever changing and developing so it probably won't look the same as your last visit. But, then, all places change, don't they.
You may also like to check out the Australia section of the forum. See link below.

You'll see there's a good chit-chat section in there called The Barbie.

Re: Newbie from Australia
Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.
