Default Moving to Lanzarote

Hi everyone.

My wife and I are planning on moving to Playa Blanca from Scotland later this year. We've had 2 fantastic holidays there in the past 12 months and have decided that we'd like to live there.

We're planning on renting at first with a view to buying in a year or two. Work won't be a problem as I work offshore in Africa, so I'll always have an income. My wife, well, she can sunbathe and shop all day when I'm away, if she so wishes.

I have read extensively from message/info websites about what's required for living there, health care, schools (for the future) etc.
What I haven't seen/read, however (and this could be because it doesn't exist) is does Lanzarote have an equivalent of a 'Council tax', like we have in the UK?
Also, apart form a monthly lease, what other bills can I expect to pay: water, elec, gas? optional with sat-tv, mobiles etc.

Any information anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!
I actually live in France, but if you post again on the Spain forum, you'll get answers to your questions!

Hello there and welcome.

We've taken this route and moved to PB in 2013. Like yourself, I work offshore. There are a number of implications about your position you should consider re getting set up that may complicate things. Feel free to PM me if you need any assistance.
