Missing 'home'

Missing 'home'
Hello all--guess you've heard that refrain here before, many times, re 'missing home'...I'm glad to have this venue for visiting with others of similar minds...I've moved back here mid Sept. to Canada from the north of England, where I'd been living with my 'Geordie' husband for the last 3 years. We moved back to his home as he was ill and did pass away Sept. 12--just two months ago now. Since I had no family in the UK, I decided to return home to Canada to be with my family. It's like starting over again from the beginning, trying to restablish, get a job, get my OHIP reinstated, find a place to live, etc. I very much miss the UK, the friends and neighbours I made there, and wish I could go back for a visit...thanks for including me in this site...I was born in the UK (Colchester, Essex) but grew up in Canada. Back and forth, it seems, but without my husband, it's just too heartbreaking to live/stay in the UK...it's not much easier here...thanks for listening. Regards.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I think 2009 has been a rough year for many...I for one will be glad when it's over.

A sincere thank you to all who responded; good to know someone is listening and cares--I suppose it's all the shared experiences, knowing what it feels like and empathizing. Your feedback is so helpful. I'm in Mississauga (Ontario) just on the border of Halton, country-side so near, yet so far. Much of it being turned into more suburbs--people have to live somewhere. A far cry from the small town I lived in back in the UK...but with family here temporarily till I get on my feet, financially & otherwise. Hard to find a job at 58--don't want a career (been there, done that-no thanks). It will happen, I know, eventually. Thank you for all your support and understanding, and links. Cheers.

Hi Dorothy; Thanks for your reply--how long have you been living in Australia--it must be lovely....do you miss the Canadian winter! That's one thing I am NOT looking forward to again. You'd think after living here most of my life I'd be use to it...but once I had a taste of the UK winter so mild in comparison--could see green grass and things actually still alive in the garden...will miss that dreadfully. Thanks for your welcome and I love your little quote at the end of your posts re the moods! Regards.

I don't blame you moving back to be near family for support...that's exactly what I would do but in the opposite direction. I hope you manage to find work soon.
