Living in Qatar
I have been reading some of the posts regarding living and working in Qatar, and I find them quite depressing.
I have recently lived in Bahrain (2009-2010) and Dubai (2011), and found them to be great places for a 40 something bloke with the wife back in the UK. She loved visiting both places.
Is Doha really so different? Or are you guys simply warning UK based people about the lifestyle differences?
I really just want a few places to have a pint, watch a bit of sport, have a decent meal etc.
I would be interested in your opinions.

Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Re: Living in Qatar
Thanks Rosemary.
I forgot to mention I may have a contract starting April 1st, which is why I am interested in the living/working situation in Qatar.
Cheers

An acquaintance* of mine is in charge of Qatar's national library. She and her family seem to like it there.

Hi Johnny
Welcome to BE.
I can't advise you on what life in Qatar is like as I normally lurk in the Goa and India forums, however I would recommend you check out the Middle East forum on here an ask some of those who are already living and working in Qatar.
You will find the forum by clicking the 'forum index' tab above, scroll down the countries and double click on Middle East and you're in.
All the very best
