:Hello everyone
Just a quick note to introduce myself and my situation. I've been a bit of a lurker recently and thank you all for your help so far, but I'm stepping out of the woodwork to be more active.
I'm 24 and moved to Vancouver last April under the IEC initiative. My boyfriend of 5 years is Canadian and we conquered long distance for 3 years before closing the gap last year. We moved from Vancouver to Calgary in November due to the sky high prices in BC and the inability to afford the lifestyle. We are settling well into Calgary, although miss Vancouvers scenery (and food).
I am in the midst of applying for a new IEC (I missed out on the first batch so have my fingers crossed for the second batch on monday). I am in a bit of a pickle as my current visa expires in April and I don't hold much faith that I will get my new one in time, alas, I am planning to change my status to visitor and activate my new IEC at the US boarder as soon as it comes in.
I am also in the process of gathering all my documents and info to apply for 'outland common law sponsorship'. I am only at the beginning of my research into the system and am already troubleshooting the application in my sleep. Yikes.
That brings me to here.
I look forward to conversing with you all over on the other threads!
