Re: hoping for new life in canada!!!!!!!!
Hi Jackie
First of all welcome to BE.
We have a forum on here which is dedicated to Canada, where you will find lots of information about what it takes to move there. You will also be able to speak to expats who are either living there or in the process of moving there, which will be very helpful to you.
You will find the Canada forum by clicking the 'forum index' tab at the top left corner of this page. Scroll down the list of countires, double click on Canada and you're in. Just say hi like you did on here.
Your OH may wish to check out our 'Working abroad by profession' section where there is a forum for mechanics. He can chat with other mechanics who may know what the possibilities in Canada are. There is also a job offers section there too. This forum is also on the forum index page in the section following the list of countries.
All the best with your plans

Your best bet is to grab a cuppa (or a glass of wine........well, it is nearly Saturday night after all ) and have a good read of the Wiki - on the blue bar at the top of the page. It's full of useful info and should help you figure out whether or not you'd be eligible for a visa.
Which province are you thinking of, and do you work (if so, as what)? That will make a difference as to your visa prospects as well.
Maybe start with this Wiki page....................http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Quick_...an_Immigration
Then pop over and join us in the Canada forum, where you can post any visa related questions in the immigration section of the forum, and any more general stuff in the Canada forum - although you'll often find that somebody else has asked the same question before so a quick search first is a good idea.
HTH, look forward to seeing you in the Canada forum.

Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.
