Hi from USA

We moved here nearly 6 weeks ago with my husbands work and I fear I am suffering from culture shock, the blues and isolation. Looking to make friends or chat.

Welcome to BE. :welcome:

Most of us have experienced culture shock after the 'honeymoon' period...you are not alone. For many it improves as time goes on...but others find it more difficult.

Welcome to BE.

That's completely natural, I think I felt like that for a year. But every day does get better, and you've got some long hot lazy days to look forward to in the summer :) That will make you feel much better.

Hello and welcome,
I am living in Missouri temporarily (2years) and understand your feelings completely! It is normal to feel out of place when you move to somewhere that is very different culturally. It helps to speak to like minded people.
Hope things get easier for you

Aloha from Hawaii.

Want to talk about culture shock? Everything is different here, until you get used to it. Take care.

Thanks everyone, it's appreciated that my feelings are understood. Hub gets to chat at work and go out with the boys, I seem to be nominated housekeeper, taxi driver, problem solver and I'm so miserable this week, I am even getting on my own nerves :).

All of us on here have experienced the ups and downs of emigrating.

Draw on those experiences, good and bad! Sometimes those bad ones help more, it shows you're not alone which can make it easier to deal with :)

You've got a lot of karma for one so new :)
