Hi there! Looking at Africa.
My name is Robyn from the UK. I've been looking for a way to move to Kenya for some years now. I am a qualified teacher but have decided that I don't want to pursue a teaching career there, which does seem to be the obvious way in.
I've joined this group to get some advice and read about other people's experiences of moving to Africa.

Thanks Sue,
Currently applying for a masters in conservation, maybe that will be my way to move to East Africa!

Hi Robyn
Welcome to BE.
I see you have already found the Africa forum, where I am sure the good folks on there wll be able to offer you lots of tips and advice to help you get there, as well as the good ole British banter and fun!
I can't say I blame you for choosing such a destination - Kenya is beautiful - but then I found pretty much most of Africa beautiful.
Actually a masters in conservation may just be the right way to go - there are plenty of conservation programmes going on in that part of the world.
Good luck with your quest.

Are you female? How often have you been to Kenya? Not ideal security wise for a single girl, but the climate in Nairobi has to be the nicest anywhere in the world. My wife is Kenyan and will be visiting her family next month. Jobs are few and far between but we may end up retiring there when I finish work.

Yes, I am female, I've been there 3 times, twice for 4 months. I've never had any trouble in terms of personal safety, but i'm pretty savvy and rarely venture out alone. I've got friends there, so I won't be truely alone when I go back.

I have no idea about the career oppurtunities in Uganda for TEACHER's but i assure u that it is the most safest country in EA or may be even africa.Best weather.
Jinja or Kampala are the 2 best places to stay and work in Uganda.

Hi Vishy
Thanks for the advice, I like Uganda, but have only been there once (to raft on the Nile). When I went there, anywhere west was a no go
