Hopes and Ambitions
Hello.
Looking to re-locate from Scotland to somewhere in the south of France, asap.
I am a professional musician, as is my youngest son, who will be coming with me. Hoping to secure a nice, long-term rental property, ideally, overlooking the sea - well, you never know!
Just wanted to say 'hello' and to wish anyone about to move, all the best with their new adventures - wherever their hopes and dreams may be taking them.
Thank you.
JCK

Hi JCK
Welcome to BE
If you haven't already I recommend you check out our France forum where you can chat with plenty of other folks living in France who can offer you lots of useful tips about moving there.
You will find it by clicking the 'forum index' tab on the top left of this page. Scroll down the listed countries until you see the title 'Europe', double click on France below that and you're in.
That just leaves me to wish you all the very best with your move

Hi JCK and warm from Malaysia. I guess south of France will be a wee bit warmer than Scotland uh? Sounds like a nice place to be. All the best with your plans and dreams.

Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Why don't you post again on the France forum? There are plenty of us to give advice!
I must warn you, though, that to rent anywhere in France, you must prove by payslips that you have a regular income 3-4 times the rent. If not, you must provide a Guarantor. You should also consider healthcare coverage, as musicians don't come under the general régime unless they are salaried.
The best chance of performing regularly in the Languedoc where I live is in Montpellier. Otherwise further East, in Marseille or along the PACA coast, but rents are higher...
Look forward to seeing you soon on the France forum!
