Hello from Utah
Hi everyone! I've been living in SLC for a couple of months now, all the big stuff (EAD, driving licences, doctors, vet...) is pretty much sorted now and I guess we're at a "Now what?" stage. My time is spent trying to find out the American equivalents of things I know from the UK (no baking apples? Seriously?) and this forum often pops up, so I thought it was about time I joined.
Enough rambling for now

Lots of expats over in our US forums, with everything from advice on all the necessities - to where to find british foods (although that could come under necessities too for some ) - http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=57

Re: Hello from Utah
Thanks! I've been doing my best to have local foods but the other week I gave in and went to the British grocery store just couldn't make a proper Christmas cake from what my local store has.

Hi Emma
Hope you weren't adversely affected by the high winds and rains yesterday in Utah. How devastating for everyone.
As for baking/cooking apples, we do have them but they are not called what they are named in the UK. In fact, the USA forum had a large thread running on just this topic last month. Why not search for it and have a join in fellow expat johnny appleseeders.
