First post
Hi all. I've lurked long enough, time for a post!
Have been an expat on and off for twenty plus years out of the last thirty-five, spent mainly in France, but also Spain, Italy, and more recently, the last three years in Thailand. Back in France now though.
First escaped the zoo (UK) in '74, and have been trying to stay away ever since . Managed pretty well recently, the last time I saw England was back in 2000. Felt like a foreigner, then, can't imagine what it's like now.
Largely enjoyed living in France all these years, but one of the reasons I moved to Thailand was that France is heading down the Anglo-Saxon commercialisation road, and despite living in a remote backwater of Provence, I fancied a change.
Thailand - a great place to live if you can handle the corruption and other drawbacks. Wonderful people, family values, philosophy of life etc... and I hope to return one day. But for various reasons I've had to come back to France for the next four years or so. Can't wait to get back to Chiang Mai, but for now, France it is
Can't really complain though, with a home at the foot of the Mont Ventoux, it's one of my favourite parts of France - and I lived all over.
Seems like BE is a great resource, and I hope I can contribute a little myself ...

Excellent first post frogblogger. Just the right amount of info without appearing too needy.
I'm off out for a few pints now but look forward to chatting to you later.
