Finding A Place In Catalonia - A Mission
I've briefly lived and taught English in Spain and Greece before but accommodation was organized by bosses. Now I'm going to the Barcelona/ Girona area in less than a fortnight and have to find somewhere to rent for under E425 per month - and no more than one month's deposit. Any ideas? Plus is it hard to get signed up as a tenant? Criminal record check etc like UK not done? Plus to add to the mission I'm taking my cat! I'm a writer, can teach there but need a base! Quick!

Just google up: 'immobilario' 'alquiller' and your chosen region and look around.
You might find a pet a limitation and you'd have to be up front with that. Also don't get duped into paying the estate agent's fees, that's the landlord's problem.
But at this notice I thin you'll need to go for a holiday rental in the first instance and others have already suggested.
You'll also need to sort out your residency and have your cat registered with the twin hall, etc. . . . before you can get a 'normal' rental.

We live there. Best for rentals here is the dedicated Catalunya property site Habitaclia. Here's the English version for you.
Good luck
