Yeah, get used to that. Unless it's an emergency, expect anything from 3-6 months to make appointments for a lot of the doctors for regular check up type of stuff.

Once you find a doctor, it's worth getting any and all annual check up appointments booked for the next year in advance, especially if you have kids for their check ups and then adjust the appointments a few months before if you need to change them.

Welcome! You're in Beacon Hill? Lucky person...thats a lovely spot that should ease the transition from the UK somewhat. I think parts of Boston are very British is character and atmosphere.
I'm about 1 and 45 mins north in Maine.
