Post Coming to America! Property and banks back in Scotland

Hi all, just moved to California for a new job. I intend to sell an investment property back in Scotland. Has anyone sold a property remotely? I did not tell the banks either yet. I will inform them in 3 months once my probationary period is over or should I tell before?

not in America but we did have to sell our property from the other side of the world. Not by choice we had initially sold it and then made arrangements to move but on exchange and completion date the buyers decided they could not afford it - nice cheers for that and wasting 3mths of my life. We had to continue with our plans to move. so did but got a new agent in before we did and they managed to sell it for us and the Solicitor was happy with just emails and then a faxed copy of contracts. As for not telling the banks that's up to you but do tell any insurance company you have as you are only allowed to leave a property empty for a certain amount of days before you have to declare it empty. Obviously yours may not be but you do need to think of it insurance implications.

Do you have anyone over in Scotland who can help you out? we had family around to keep the place looking nice and sort out a leak we had before the new buyer signed on the dotted line

We have someone to look after the repairs etc. Insurance side is OK too. As long as it is legal sign and post I think then we will OK. Thanks MrsFychan
