Hi Andrew,
Welcome to BE, I'm so pleased to have you onboard and hope that being a member here will help alleviate a little of that homesickness.
I know how you feel though, I had terrible homesickness when we first moved over here, missed family and friends really badly and had a large case of culture shock.
What state have you moved to?

Welcome to BE and good luck with settling in!
If you say where abouts you are, state at least, I'm sure you'll find plenty of folks who can help out with more local issues

You're in good company because many of us BE'ers are homesick. Some people it hits after the first few months...for others homesickness may not set in for years or decades. I became homesick after about 3 months and it lasted for around 10/12 years. Is there anything in particular you miss about the UK? At least we can log on here for our daily 'Brit Fix'.
Why don't you pop over there to our US Forums and take a look around?
If you require any assistance finding your way around BE's many forums we have a team of concierges who will act as your tour guide...they will be pleased to help you. The concierge for the US forums is Kaffy Mintcake...please contact her if you need pointing in the right direction.
If you have any problems or concerns please contact a mod or admin. The mods for the US forums are Bob and MsElui.
Please give me a shout if I can be of further help. I look forward to seeing you in the US forums.

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

I am sure in time things will get easier.
If you havn't aleady do check out the USA forum which you will find by clicking on the 'forum index' tab on the pink bar at the top of this page. Scroll down all th countries until you fidn USA then double clcik on that and you're in.
