Back in Sydney after a decade in London
Hi everyone!
I'm new here...
I spent all the noughties in London, loved it enough to become a British citizen and still miss it - now back in Sydney to look after my parents and have mum help look after my toddler, who came here when she was 10 months old.
I've been back in Sydney for six months but a lot of things are still hard to get used to. Driving everywhere, the cost of bananas (and pretty much everything), abbreviating everything (leb cues?) no one seems to wear shoes, the bad television and over commercialism/product placement in TV shows, the lack of good quality (or at least a variety of) newspapers, no handy shopping from Argos catalogues, getting to grips with an expensive public/private health system, no greasy spoons, no real ale, poker machines everywhere....... not that I'm complaining (a lot).... because I know things are tough in London ever since I left the UK. I like to think I was there in the 'heyday'!
Anyway, looking forward to having a good chat and either giving or receiving advice about readjusting to life here again.

Hi Tofu
Welcome to BE.
Gosh you really need a BRit fix I think.
If you haven't already, check out our Australia forum - there are lots of Brits to keep you company there. You will find it by clicking on the 'forum index tab at the top of the page (pn the pink bar), scroll down and double click on Australia and you're in.
Enjoy

Hi tofu,
Welcome to BE. I see you are finding your way around ok, and I hope you are enjoying being part of little community.
Please don't hesitate to give myself, the moderators or the concierges a shout if you get stuck on anything.
