The visit would still need to be declared on green card & N-400 applications. That's when the potential for trouble could kick in.

I am curious on why it has to be declared? Lets say you are going to China via Mexico.
First I am going to US to MX, then from MX to mainland China (HKG and Macao needs no visa for British Nationals), the green card is not necessarily need to be shown on your way to China when you exit MX because it is made for your citizenship, which is British passport, NOT american greencard. That's my understanding.

Form N400 asks about trips outside the US in the last five years. You have two options lie on a federal form or delay citizenship application for five years.

Further down the road, the trip would have to be declared on a US citizenship application. US immigration law contains many harsh penalties for making false statements on an immigration application.

Re: Will travelling to Cuba jeopardise my US Green Card?
We are looking at traveling to Cuba from USA via Mexico and have green cards but our application for citizenship has already been submitted, so we wouldn't be lying on the form about where we've traveled. But worried about a stamp from Cuba that would show immigration in USA we visited Cuba. I read they are now stamping passports. Any experiences?Am I worrying for nothing?
Thanks

Does is still matter? I suppose I naively thought that normalizing relations would end the travel restrictions.

Cuba (last update July 22, 2015).
Tourist travel to Cuba is prohibited under U.S. law for U.S. citizens and others under U.S. jurisdiction.

Could never understand the desire to go to Cuba. There are so many islands in the Caribbean why Cuba? Go to the Florida Keys. Same climate, water, activities and within the continental US.

Everyone I've know who has been on holiday to Cuba has loved it.

Canadian's go as it's one of the cheapest islands to go to and spend a week in. And with several high profile murders of Canadian's in Mexico, Cuba is one of the safer places to go it seems.
Dominican Republic is popular as well.
Western Canadian's tend to go to Hawaii more though then Cuba and other island down there, too far and pricey to travel to from the west.

It was my understanding (although I certainly could be wrong about this) that, immediately before naturalization, you were asked whether or not you had made any additional trips outside the US since the time that your application was approved.
