of course they would want the person taking money from an account to have the same name as the transferwise account holder. Or am I missing something here?

As third parties can send money into a transferwise borderless account, one might expect them to be able to do so into an exchange account.

I've used WorldFirst to transfer both ways ($ to £, £ to $) in the past. When I checked recently, for £ to $, TransferWise was cheaper, so I used them.
No problems with either company.

I've used FairFX, excellent service, can't fault them.

For what sum of money? Presumably you have factored in the Transferwise fee, because their exchange rate all morning has been in the 1.35 range.

I used Transferwise a couple of weeks ago (£ to $). I ordered at about 8am Eastern and it was in my US bank account by the end of the day.

For comparison Citibank is 1.3117 and takes about 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on your internet connection. £5000 gives you $6,558.68
