social security/survivor benefit?
Its been absolutely ages since I was on here - time flies. Anyway couple of questions. I lived in US from 2004 and left in 2010 - now back in the UK. Husband receives his social security retirement. I am not US citizen. If anything happens to him before me - am I entitled to part of his social security pension?
(I only worked for four years in the US so dont think that would amount to anything).

Re: social security/survivor benefit?
There are SS survivor benefits for the surviving spouse after age 60 (50 if disabled, or younger if there are dependent kids). My husband died this year, and I can claim his SS benefit once I reach age 60 (partial) and full at age 67. The amount depends on the deceased contributions and how much the surviving spouse earns. Not sure if you have to be a US citizen to claim. I wouldn't have thought so. The SSA website has details.
