Why is California's gas so ridiculously expensive compared to everywhere else in the US?
Three reasons...

1. Emissions formula is more expensive.
2. Gas tax is very high.
3. Greed.

It has suddenly gone down a fair bit over the week.

Discount card places are around $2.59G while everywhere else is $2.69G so about 20c down in a week.

Seemed to have crept back up a few cents this morning around here though.

We took a trip into SW Wisconsin on Saturday, I filled up in town at $2.95 but saw it as low as $2.59 just outside of Madison. We could have easily made it up there with what I had in the tank. Bollocks

I paid $2.399 last night the next town over, down 4c from a week earlier. ..... Actually I paid 12c less than that ($2.279) with my BP loyalty discount.

Yesterday $2.69 for diesel. Premium at $4.09 [regular and mid under $3 but not by much].

We drive the TDI a lot more than the 525i for some reason.

Ours was down to $3.01 yesterday. Unfortunately my new Jeep uses regular plus so I ended up paying 10 cents more.

The price of diesel is strange. Where I live gas is 30c cheaper than where I work, but diesel is pretty much the same within a cent or two. In fact it's about the same as what you're paying. I assume this is something to do with diesel being taxed differently to gas.

Diesel here is running 8 cents per liter cheaper then regular gas and about 30 cents cheaper per liter then premium gas.

We don't have a diesel though, not sure one work like all the short 5-10 min drives we do...

Currently at around $4.10 around San Diego.
If I see Regular advertised with a '3' in the first digit, it brightens my day.

Apart from Shell, who had (with Wash) in the small print.

Happy to have just filled the tank at $2.49G at the discount place, which was about 6c cheaper than the nearest other place in town.
