Embassy appointment on 23rd march trying to get an earlier appointment. Will let you all know how it goes. I got cut off on the phone whilst disclosing convictions only disclosed drink driving which they said isnt a problem...eventually. None of the paperwork has asked me to disclose all convictions. Just a tick box if I have ever been arrested or not.
But the lawyers I expect will want to see my ACRO certificate and then tell my employer. Hopefully they will be okay with it. One last hurdle before the embassy.
Will let you all know the outcome

Thanks yes I have already done that and done the tax calculator, on paper seems amazing money but really not much better off than in the UK well quite a lot but because I have to pay my own accomodation I've allowed $1400 including bills a month for it which gets me an apartment the size of my house. They have great healthcare and dental 80% contribution €181 per month. Transport to work is 150 a month but I will be a walking distance of work phone bill is $150 a month but work pay for it after 2 months. Then after the above I have $2000 a month after tax for anything else. I made it clear to them I didn't want to be scraping the barrell each month and I wanted money left over to pay for flights home and for friends and family to visit. I also get 35 days holiday including public holidays. I plan to come back to england for 14 days every 6 months. Fly a friend or family member out 2-3 times a year so shouldn't get to home sick. That take home pay excludes quarterly bonuses which I should hopefully get one and after 3 and 6 months I get a pay review

I had to see it out, but anyone reading this in future I'd recommend getting a visa before even trying to get a job. Or to be honest don't even bother, very long stressful experience, just not worth the hassle or the shame, highly embarassing to.
Unlike UK laws you need to declare straight away after interviewing and being told you are getting an offer (or maybe even before that stage) everything you have ever been arrested for even as a minor.
Fragomen who are the worst solicitors I have ever dealt with or heard of, told me 2 offences as a minor were not relevant they didn't need any more information but to tell my employer that my 2 offences as an adult may be a problem so to tell the employer and explain this. So I told them I had 2 offences as an adult and Fragomen said to let them know as it may cause problems.
Then Fragomen said oh got a lot more he isn't telling you, although I sent them in writing twice giving them permission to discuss my entire background, conversations, records with the employer which made me look bad!
Probably a good thing to be honest, I would have missed my friends and family and not been to happy out there, it would be all work and no play

1) What on earth is a 'Fragomen'?
2) You CAN'T get a visa before getting a job. It doesn't work that way.
3) I think you were told that you needed to declare everything. Anything less than total honesty is a ridiculous waste of not only your time, but everyone else involved, not to mention cost.
4) It pays to get independent advice. Not everything you read on the internet is true, but listening to many different experienced people will give an indication of what you should be doing. Especially as they have no 'skin in the game' and nothng to gain from it.
5) Funny ho when we tell people about the pitfalls, they don't listen. It's only when they realize the down side for themselves, they say 'Ah well, I'm probably better off where I am'!

Oh. So it didn't work out? Kind of had a feeling it wouldn't.

Odd, Fragomen are normally very highly regarded, and regularly recommended on this forum by members who've used them with great success.
Some of the things you say are perfectly normal (i.e. not speaking to you or helping you - you're not their client, charging thousands, etc). Any other law firm would do exactly the same.
TBH, it sounds to me like they were struggling to put a case together for you to qualify for the visa unfortunately.

I don't think that our OP had much of a chance to obtain his visa but he and the company were willing to try. Learning process for all involved.

They were recommended by one of our resident attorneys moons ago. I only recall one or two people using them and one being quite unhappy with them.

To be honest, I've heard mostly negative things about Fragomen.
