We're seriously considering it now so I'll start looking into costs of shipping, storage, insurance etc etc. The company haven't relocated anyone before so there's no framework to follow or "standard package".
Hey WeezieWoo how's things? We have a had big discussion here today and while the location is uncertain now (could be LA, Vegas or Houston!) the move is going ahead 1st March. How are you getting on with shipping research? It's my next job. Have solved storage as going to build a door to our basement 4th bedroom and put everything either there or in the loft locked away from the renters.

This seems to have turned into a thread about cycling, one of my relatives is a keen cyclist and lived in California for many years and was constantly moaning about how hopeless it was to be a cyclist in California, (for example, many traffic lights are triggered by the presence of a vehicle, she got a ticket for jumping a light as a result). Then she moved to the UK and was nearly killed a few months later in a bike accident, after hitting a big pothole. Fortunately the air ambulance saved her. Moral of the story, cycling sucks.

Anyway, the key word in the OP was the word "intermittently" - to what degree?
