Not sure where you got your 5% figure from.
It came from a series of economic and government statistics. Please note that in the article you linked, the statistic cited by the author was for "households" and not "individuals," I was referring to the latter. The author then lazily conflated the two as though "household income" and "individual income" were the same thing (I'm not mentioning that to be confrontational to you - but my pet peeve these days is sloppy journalism of which currently seems to be the norm rather than the exception).

Regardless, taking in the comments from earlier the question for OP would be, not is it "easy" on $75,000 per year, as I agree the other posters that with a family of 5 and one income that would be difficult - but the question would be, is that salary a substantial upgrade over what the family makes now, and would it make life "easier" (rather than "easy") than their current circumstances in the UK?

Seems we need to rename this thread to 'Donald Trumps America is closed to outsiders!'

Maybe the OP could take the job without moving his family for a trial period to establish the viability.
The other thing is maybe the OP will get some life experiences which would otherwise not be available. How much are those life experiences worth?

One suggestion is for your husband to market his skills, that means showing people in the states his workmanship, not just pictures of it, videos as well, we live in a high media consuming world now. Some videos on Youtube get over 100,000 views in one day, this is just one suggestion. As for kids moving and debt, it all depends on who he impresses because most of it maybe taken care of based on supply and demand.

I have no clue and all the help or point in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
