Everyone has the freedom or potential to avail themselves of the benefits of an HSA, whereas your preference is stacked in one direction taking money from one group of people to give to another.
There's no conceptual difference between the tax revenues the government forgoes when someone has an HSA and the subsidies it provides to buy insurance in the ACA. Both result in the government making a "subsidy" towards an individual's healthcare costs.

Agreed, which is why I said earlier in this thread that I feel divided about HSAs.

A good first step would be to force health providers to hand you a bill on the way out of the door that is itemized and final.

It would be nice to get an estimate of the cost and if it's covered before the visit. This seems impossible with most PPO providers.
