Anyway, it's 7.30am, it's 24 degrees already and I've just sat in the garden with the sun glistening on the pond and watching the deer in the field. I'm looking forward to another day of setting up my business, a few hours work, brunch with friends (that DON'T moan!), time with my kids after school and dinner out with more great friends (ditto the above). Positive enough for you?!
I don't know

It's sounds a little like you're trying to convince yourself that you're happy

He misses America, so why would he want to go to Australia, Canada and NZ?

Sorry matey. It was actually from a different thread (I thought it was this one):

Egg on face.

While it's nice that you quoted me, you might understand the comment if you went back and actually read it.

I reckon it's because you are a novelty - they've probably never met a real English guy before and so it's easy to have a conversation because they want to hear about British culture.....and to hear your 'cute' accent and vice-versa and because of the cultural differences there is so much to talk about. It just isn't going to happen with British girls for obvious reasons...

....have you ever seen the movie "Love Actually"? There is a scene where a young English guy goes off for a holiday in the US (strangely enough, ending up in freezing Wisconsin in the middle of Winter) and got all the pretty young American girls are like flies around a jam jar when they hear his accent...

Don't need to, I have the best life in the world. There is seriously nothing that could better it bar a small lottery win.

Now you can't accuse all Brits of being negative all the time, right?

It's a stereotype for a reason to be fair.

Because the solution to his problems isn't the US. The OP just thinks it is. Depression will usually convince a person to think that such a radical change is a solution to their problems. It isn't.

And all I'm saying is that once you have had a taste of freedom, freedom of expression, its hard to go back. Its hard to go back and conform to a very narrow band of socially acceptable behaviors, back to dutifully take your place in a ridged class structure, back to the doom and gloom of the U.K.

I went through some of the same things upon my return to the UK some time ago, and thats why I'm finally returning to the States. Instead of desperately trying to convince Cano that he's got this all wrong, maybe we could just accept the fact that he prefers the open wide American culture?
