Default Late FBAR's filed, mistake on one form (birth date)

Hi,

I listened to comments on here and sought CPA advice re: delinquent FBAR's. I received money from a grandparent when they passed and it tipped me over the $10,000 reporting requirement, which I did not know about at the time.

FBAR's have now been filed for 2013, 2014 and 2015, which brings me up to date. However, the CPA (although it was my fault for not noticing), made a mistake with my birthdate on the 2013 FBAR. My wife has just helped me calm down from the melt down of fear that ensued..

I know I can correct the form by unsigning the pdf, correcting, and resubmitting. Am I going to get hammered/punished for doing this? No FBAR goes above $20,000.

Thank you,

H

This is minor, nothing to worry about.

Once more, thank you all. My replies have been a bit late, job interview time!

I agree with others, absolutely no cause for concern. Good luck with the job hunting.

I filed my 2015 FBAR with an extra zero in the amounts , my amounts were a little more than the numbers you quoted. I discovered my error 4 months after the filing deadline.
I called FBAR 1-866-270-0733. They told me to file an amended form (the whole 11 pages or so) and no penalty would be given. They love their paperwork don’t they?
Don't worry. If I'm fined or jailed, I'll let you know.
