Scottish girl living in Fairfax County needing some new friends!!
Hey, I recently moved to Fairfax County in Virginia (1hr outside Washington DC) from Edinburgh, Scotland and I am having a hard time finding friends because of my busy work and school schedule.
Now being 20years old means I should be out with friends for lunch/coffee/shopping etc but, so far I have only made 2-3 friends that I see on a weekly basis.
Is there any Brits staying nearby me?
Thanks!

Hi, I am not near there, but there is a "meetup" section on this site. This thread is about Virginia and might be of interest. Lots of helpful people on BE.

Welcome to BE
Have you had any luck finding meet up groups on meetup.com and on Facebook? Usually find something or other.

There are the Scottish games in Virginia if you are looking for a man who knows how to toss a caber.

There's also a Christmas walk in Alexandria.

Often other sports-related meet ups at various pubs for watching footie. Occasionally the embassy will have social events as well if you want to check those out.

If you're into soccer then Summers at Arlington, VA is a good place to meet expats watching the soccer.

You would think there would be some nannies from other countries in the area around your age. I met loads when I originally came over as a nanny. Unfortunately, most of them leave after a year or so.

Hello there! I may not be of British descent (as you can tell from my user name) but I would like to meet you sometime as I live in Manassas Park, just about 10-15 minutes from Fairfax. I've always wanted a British friend and I would be most delighted to welcome you to the USA! I myself am a 20 year old, turning 21 next month, and looking for some more friends. If you would like to meet up with me sometime let me know.
