But if he returns "with the intention of staying" he would be covered immediately by the NHS, and there is nothing that says that having an injury or expensive medical condition precludes a British citizen from returning to the UK, no matter how recently they left.

I see. So he’s relocating— unless he becomes ill. In which case he will rapidly relocate again. Got it.

Yes hopefully it wont come to that but at least I have the option unlike most american citizens.
