Default Landline Telephone Compatibility (US/Italy)

Hey, all. I'm waiting on a POTS corded telephone from Italy to arrive here in the good ol' US of A. I expect the Italian phone (a Philips Scala--no longer available in the UK or the US) will have an RJ11 connection. The question is... will it work? The device requires two AA batteries and a RJ11 connection. It is a corded phone, so no wireless frequencies are not a factor.

Anyone have experience utilizing a European (non-UK) RJ11-equipped phone in North America? Thoughts welcome, thanks much.

My apartment actually has RJ11 ports all over as the primary phone connector (as opposed to the UK versions: BS 6312) so I presume it would work - however I haven't used a landline for years, so anyones guess.

Well you've already bought it so here's hoping.

We still use a landline, as does my sister. Prefer it to my cell. The house was filled with phone jacks on most every wall when we bought it a few years ago.

The Italian telephone never arrived so I ended up ordering one from Spain instead. Performance and design exceed expectations, caller ID works flawlessly, and I wasn't forced to order a phone designed for a hotel.

Suspect a plain old telephone requires a simple copper 2-wire connection. Don't think there's any difference in how they work anywhere, just you'll need to figure out the wiring configuration for it to work with RJ11.
