Default Doctors in Florida

We are moving to Florida in December of this year to become permanent residents on EB-5 visas. We have been regular visitors to Florida for many many years but have never had to deal with any doctors in Florida. I would be grateful if anybody can advise on the following

1.Does anybody know of a good general visitors doctor in the Davenport area of Florida whos is contracted to Cigna insurance company.I have looked on the Cigna website and it lists many doctors in our area but they all seem to specialize in certain medical conditions. Does this mean they are only used for that particular condition or do they do general medicine as well

2. How do you go about getting a regular prescription in Florida as I taken a prescription medicine every day. I know that what I take is available from Walmart at $10 for a 90 days supply but not how I get a regular prescription. Do i Have to visit the doctor every 90 days or is it like the Uk were you can just see the doctor once and then you just ring up for a repeat prescription

3.Our Health plan is an HSA plan with quite a high deductable so I know that I will have to pay myself to see the doctor and would be grateful if anybody could advise what the cost for a doctors office visit is liable to be just to get a prescription

Many thanks to anybody who can help

Alan

Your looking for a PCP- Primary Care Physician, not a GP...

Prescriptions, depends on the prescription, some you have to go for check ups to get a repeat, some you just ring and they fax the chemists, some you get a 12 month supply but have to pick up monthly at the chemist etc.

Cost, depends on the doctor and what the problems are so I can't say, but for an idea, if I didn't have medical insurance, my baby's health checkup which is weight, measurements and a 5-10 min checkup on baby and a few questions would be $350-400 plus cost of the jabs on top.

I pay about $140 a pop, all within the deductible.

But that may well be a good deal.

I am not an OAP, they might be more kind to those.

I had an annoying cough, I was given an inhaler thingy which did the job.

So I went to get one from the Chemist and it was about $150 - ouch. A month.

Chemist called over to Surgery and they had another in their sample box which fortunately outlasted the cough.
