Check coverage where you live, but T Mobile is good - I think it's around $50 for unlimited everything for one person. We have a family plan for 4 lines of unlimited everything with fast data up to 10GB, but it doesn't include YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, etc in the data cap which is handy as I have teens. The cost is $137 a month with taxes, and it includes free data and texting while overseas in any country I'm likely to be prepared to travel in.

Tmobile is good if you need multiple phones, its something like 70 for the first phone, then 40 for the next and if you get a third phone 4th one is free. I wish they just charged the same per line.

Yes, there's some sort of sliding scale where adding an extra line for the kids only added about $10 to the monthly bill. I imagine it's to buy early loyalty and inertia, like giving great deals on student bank accounts.

The best prepaid and no contract plans in the US (February 2017) - Android Authority

That's a pretty good run down.

Simple Mobile, is $60 a month for unlimited 4G a month along with text/mins and the one below this rate, has limited 4G and then the rest is 3G, unlike what it states as it changed recently.

I've been using USMobile for the last month in Minneapolis, no complaints. It's payg, $21 for 1gig, 100mins & 100txts. I'm on the minimum but you can modify what you want from month to month or even add more in the month. Still more than my old £12 monthly with Three!

I still have my pre-data Orange plan at $0 per month. I think it was called the Orange-Virgin plan. I keep it to receive UK texts and when I travel back to the UK.

You can sometimes negotiate. I'm currently paying $90/mo for 4 lines each with unlimited texts and calling plus 6GB of high speed data per line.

Reasonable overseas/roaming rates too, although you can do better with OneSuite and the like.

I love their very fair policies which are wonderful compared to some carriers who will nickel and dime you to death at every opportunity.

Funny thing is my Three 4-g data is working like a charm here in the US. Wouldn't need a US data plan if that continued, but I think you get 2 months abroad then they stop it...

Yes doesn't last long, but I wonder with you travelling between UK and USA it would reset?

Not sure but I may find out by using it until it stops working

If it can be reset I'll mail the sim back to the uk periodically but I suppose they'll likely block this.

I'd just be concerned if it silently stopped working and then next bill you'll be hit by a huge roaming data charge.

Think 3 just cut your service off after a couple of months - I don't believe they start charging for roaming - they notify you of it either way. I signed up for AT&T GoPhone: $40 a month inc taxes for 6GB of 4G data (goes to 3g after that) and unlimited calls/texts. Not as good as the old 3 plan but much better than it used to be in the US.
