Default Car Insurance - Visitors

Hi There,

I now live in Texas. My parents are visiting me for 3 weeks from the UK.

As I have two cars, I was wondering whether I could insure my father on my car rather than him hire one?

As he is only visiting on an ESTA I am not sure this is possible?

Any advice greatly received.

You would have to ask your insurance company. Some do, some don't and some have special criteria to allow you to insure visitors.

IME US car insurance is generally "any licensed driver, with permission of the owner". You should read the small print of your policy to see if it excludes drivers without a US license.

Never read the fine print on my insurance but when a friend came over to visit last April that's essentially what the Geico agent on the phone told me.
