Default Any UK trained RNs or midwives?

Hi there

I am currently practicing in Canada and have dual registration here in both nursing and midwifery. just wondering about what our options are should we ever decide to move.

Though I understand that each state has different requirements, I was just interested to hear other people's experiences and what exams/training they have had to undergo.

Thanks!

Very hard to get a visa for the US to work as a RN as many nurses are EB3 and that is under retrogression. As long as you meet the state requirements all you will have to do is sit and pass NCLEX

Either of you or spouse a US citizen?

If not, read the wiki about visas, then worry about state requirements.

- Apply for state licensure, including any credential/transcript evaluations they require
- Register and sit NCLEX-RN exam
- Apply for Visa Screen Certificate (if you have, or will have, a work based visa)
- May or may not be able to receive state license without providing valid-for-work SSN (depends on state)
- Organize job/visa (degree of difficulty and order depends on your education/experience, what type of job/visa etc)
