Does the school still exist? Do you have, or can you get transcripts for your studies?

I'm not sure what it's like today, but IIRC back in the 80's it was no more than about 5%-10% of UK nurses had a degree.

I have done degree modules working towards a degree but with family commitments and a disabled child I don't have enough time to sleep never mind study!! My biggest concern is the provision of services for my son, you can't beat the good old NHS!
If you don't have a UK bachelors degree then maybe you have enough to be considered equivalent to an associates degree here, which is a 2 year degree. And can get you a nursing position.

Op might be able to get an LPN position easier than RN.

In terms of medical bills etc. even with benefits provided make sure you have a good safety net for those extra costs that are hidden in the small print. There seems to be a trend for rising insurance rates right now, hopefully your husband does not have a fixed salary contract if so negotiations are in order. Choose where you live wisely making sure there is a reputable hospital close by. You mentioned heart problems so maybe look into cardiology department ratings. Having insurance doesn't mean better than the normal care here as it does in th UK.

Best thing would be to start here: https://www.bon.texas.gov/licensure_...tion.asp#paper

and work out what TX wants you to do as a foreign-trained RN applicant.

Insurance companies can no longer refuse to insure someone because of pre-existing conditions. Your son will be insured as long as you pay the premiums.

How much your co-pays and out-of-pocket costs come to depends on the policy your employer has chosen. I haven't worked for a big bank but I have worked for a large insurance company and the policy was pretty top-notch. I paid $15 to see a doctor, $35 to see a specialist, and out of pocket costs were limited to $1500 per person or $2000 per family. (This is all assuming you use in-network doctors and facilities, which we have.) The cost for the insurance for the whole family was about £1100 per month but 70% of this was paid for by my employer, and the remaining premium I paid out of pre-tax income.

I'm not sure about Special Ed schools, but our local school system provides much better support for children with additional needs than our last school system in the UK did. TBH I think that's something you'll have to research at a local level.

Hope that helps.

A quick Google suggests they are indeed called LPNs in Texas; just an FYI for the OP it might help when researching that the title LVN is also used and is to all intents and purposes the same thing.
