Another vote for IKEA here. I like the fact the gear is pretty much the same as back home. I happen to like the look of IKEA stuff, and as previously mentioned, if you buy some of the higher quality stuff, it'll last. I'm another one that finds a lot of American furniture extremely bland and staid.

After searching all the big stores near me in NJ for a large tv stand (that wasn't v traditional or have a fireplace in it!!! 😆), l checked out Target and found exactly what l was looking for, well worth a look.
I also second Home Goods.

Most people just hang their TV on the wall - the TV takes up less room, and up on the wall it puts the screen in a much better position for your posture - when you are relaxed in a chair you don't have your chin almost resting on your chest, which puts stress on your neck.

I'm not too sold on the TV stands that I keep seeing around here in the US. They're all far too low to the ground for me.

Hi welcome to the Bay Area. Don't know where you're based but the Nob Hill and Lunardi in Los Gatos have British sections with Ribena, Robinson's Orange Squash, McVities, Heinz Baked Beans etc. Love World Market - awesome selection of biscuits and chocolate and marmite and other British delights. Also like International Food Bazaar on Curtner Ave, San Jose for cheap big packs of McVities and other random British goods!
Re furniture - as others have said - IKEA, Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Hayneedle (have an online sale), Pier One Imports, and Z Gallerie (not cheap but gorgeous stuff in Santana Row).

Welcome RB! I am a Brit ex-pat in the Bay Area too. I am moving back to the UK after 19 years here and have a ton of almost new, lightly used furniture from Restoration Hardware and other stores (equivalent of John Lewis, maybe higher than that), as well as TV's, stereo equipment, kettles etc that I am selling before I go.
If interested let me know!
If not, welcome to the USA and Amazon is a great place for Tea and Whole Foods carries great UK cheeses.
By the way, I'm in Mountain View too!

Try Safeway for regular English tea, they often sell Tetleys.

Amazon is the cheapest and best option for Tea. I order PG tips by the kilogram every few months. Amazon is a great option for most British/Irish goods.
Costco has a great cheddar cheese from Vermont called Cabot. I'm originally Irish and I much prefer it to the Kerrygold Cheese (that Costco also sells). Coostco also does furniture online that is great qulaity.
