2021 Hurricane Season

2021 Hurricane Season
We have several forum members who reside in Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. All of LA is under threat from Ida while 3/4's of MS and TN are threatened, as well.
Please take the necessary precautions for your safety. Flashlights, instead of candles which could cause fire, generators to provide electricity to important appliances such as refrigerators, an emergency safety kit and an emergency escape kit and plan containing a change of clothing, meds, maps with escape routes highlighted, bottles of water and energy bars. Know which roads are prone to flooding and plan your escape around them. Keep your phones fully charged and a charger in the car(s).
Be safe and prepared. Good Luck.

And all this happening on the 16th anniversary of Katrina. So sad for Louisiana and everywhere else that might be in the path of this storm
Stay safe everyone. My heart goes out to you x

Thank you! I'm worried for my daughter's friend who lives in the 'burbs of NO and for our pastor who lives in Baton Rouge with his family. On tornado watch until tomorrow. That actually worries me more than a hurricane.

So far, so good. Torrential rains and high winds periodically but that has been the sum total for now. Ida stayed to the west rather than heading more easterly so we got the outer bands only.

It would be good if it was the last but it's doubtful as September tends to be the worst month for hurricanes and tropical storms. But with global warming there is no telling when or where they will hit nowadays.

Yup, Louisiana can't seem to cut a break the last 2 decades. Where once it was unusual for the Gulf coast of the US to suffer more than a moderator hurricane once a year, now the ones that are coming up increase and strength and decimate the coastlines and coastal cities.

Hoping that all our BE people in the latter path of Ida are OK. We just had steady heavy rain all Tuesday night and yesterday, much like a UK bank holiday and being in a relatively rural area there is plenty of run-off land to take the excess water. I was shocked this morning to see the pictures from NYC and northern NJ

I've been looking at pictures and reading about my hometown in Westchester County NY and it is heart breaking to see the flooding and hear about the people who have died.
